Interview with buyers Ernst & Mitchell<\/h2>\n

Friends Ernst and Mitchell have shared a close friendship for more than a decade - and, in recent years, a growing shared ambition. What began as shared interest in business and real estate now culminates in a joint investment in Cura\u00e7ao: their own place under the sun at Baia Vista.<\/p>\n

For both of them, real estate has played a role for a long time. Ernst knew at a young age that he wanted to go in this direction and has now been active in commercial real estate for many years. Mitchell built his career in insurance and mortgages and is also involved in a real estate agency. That combination of knowledge and ambition ensured that their conversations increasingly turned to investing, future plans and opportunities.<\/p>\n

\n

Why Cura\u00e7ao?<\/strong>
\u201cWhen you think of Cura\u00e7ao, you think of sun, freedom and relaxation,\u201d says Mitchell. \u201cIt is an island where the weather is almost always good, where there is a lot to do, but where you can also simply enjoy yourself - on the beach, at a beach club or on the water.\u201d<\/p>\n

The desire to build their own property portfolio had been there for some time. Initially, they looked at investing in the Netherlands, but changing laws and regulations and increasing competition made it increasingly difficult for private investors to actually take that step.<\/p>\n

When did Baia Vista come into the picture?
\n<\/strong>Through a close acquaintance of Mitchell, who was in Cura\u00e7ao at the time, they came across Baia Vista. \u201cWe were forwarded the brochure and as you scroll through it, you immediately see: this is something special,\u201d Ernst says. \u201cSpacious flats, good facilities such as a swimming pool and communal areas - it just made sense.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

Still, they were cautious at first. Cura\u00e7ao is not around the corner and, to be fair, Ernst had never even been to the island before the purchase. \u201cThat only came later,\u201d he laughs. \u201cBut fortunately: nothing disappointed. On the contrary.\u201d<\/p>\n

W<\/strong>at finally gave the deciding factor?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

After extensive research, discussions with residents on the island and having the financial picture calculated, it became more and more concrete. \u201cThe combination of a first serious investment, the possibility of local financing as well as the feeling for the project was the deciding factor,\u201d says Mitchell.<\/p>\n

The flat will mainly be used for rental, but also for personal use. \u201cIt's the ideal mix for us,\u201d Ernst explains. \u201cAn investment for the future, but also a cottage under the sun where we want to stay ourselves with regularity.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

What makes Baia Vista special to you?<\/b><\/div>\n
\n

\u201cWe looked at several developments on Cura\u00e7ao,\u201d Mitchell explains. \u201cAreas like Jan Thiel and Blue Bay are beautiful, but often not financially feasible. What makes Baia Vista unique is that you are part of a new area development from the start. You see it emerge, grow into it - and hopefully that translates into long-term value.\u201d<\/p>\n

H<\/strong>oe are you looking to the future?<\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Both are hugely looking forward to the completion. \u201cExperiencing the whole process - from the initial plans to construction - is an adventure in itself,\u201d says Ernst. \u201cThe weekly updates and drone footage make it extra tangible.\u201d<\/div>\n

After completion, they plan to spend a few weeks on the island first. \u201cTo enjoy, but also to really land,\u201d Mitchell adds. \u201cThat moment when you get the keys... that seems very special to us.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n
Do you have any tips for other buyers?<\/b><\/div>\n
\u201cImmerse yourself well,\u201d they say in unison. \u201cIn the island, in development, but also in matters such as financing, management and local parties. And above all, go and see for yourself. Cura\u00e7ao is fantastic, but it has to suit you. For us, it was love at first - and second - sight.\u201d<\/div>\n
